Pope Pius XII told Vice President Richard Nixon in his private audience yesterday that he was concerned over the complex problems involved in the Middle Eastern situation, the Vice President said today. The Pope, he added, expressed the hope that after the crisis which had resulted in bloodshed, a just and equitable solution may be found.
Mr. Nixon denied reports that the Holy Places in Palestine and the safety of Catholic missions in the Arab countries had figured in his talk with the Pontiff.
