The Board of Motion Picture Censors today denied the request of the German Consul Robert G. Closermann of Portland to censor the current issue of the March of Time on the ground that it tends to create animosity against Germany. Closermann protested both to Mayor Joseph Kirtley Carson Jr. of Portland and to the Paramount Theatre management asking deletion of scenes showing Nazis forcing Jews from German business houses.

In refusing to take action, Mrs. E. B. Colwell the Censor Board secretary, said “I saw nothing to censor. It is absolutely alright. It only shows what we have read for months in newspapers and magazines. It’s history. If I were a German I don’t think I could find it objectionable. It’s really wonderful and I am glad I saw it.”

Chicago and Chio censors recently deleted several scenes of the March of Time film, “The New Palestine.”
