Simcha Pratt, former Israel Minister and Consul General in New York and presently head of the Foreign Ministry’s International Organization Division, was named today Minister to the Union of South Africa. He replaces Katriel Salmon, a former military attache in Washington, who was named Minister to Rumania.
The Foreign Ministry also announced today the appointment of Mordechai Shalev as Consul General in Los Angeles. Mr. Shalev is currently director-general of the Foreign Ministry and previously had served as First Secretary of the Israel Embassy in Washington. Yaakov Aviad was named Consul for press information at the Consulate in New York.
