The Soviet Communist Party newspaper Pravda accused Democratic Presidential nominee George McGovern yesterday of encouraging “the extremists in Tel Aviv.” The Moscow newspaper called Sen. McGovern’s policies inconsistent in a dispatch from its correspondent who covered the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach last week.
According to Pravda, McGovern “refrained from putting forward any concrete ideas on his earlier proposals to reduce military spending and military commitments by the US abroad.” The Pravda dispatch added, “Like many other leaders of the Democratic Party, the Senator favors continuing American military aid to Israel which urges on the expansionist plots of the extremists in Tel Aviv.”
