A tremendous pre-dawn explosion today, directly in front of the main gate of the Buenos Aires Kehilla offices, rocked the building and shattered windows for a block around the area.
The blast tore a yard-wide hole in the pavement. There were no persons in the area at the time of the blast. The street in front of the building, which also houses the headquarters of the DAIA, the central body of Argentine Jews, seemed an ocean of broken glass in the early light, when people reported for work in the morning.
(In New York, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, cabled the two organizations expressing indignation over the bombing and voiced the hope that the “Argentine authorities will react with strongest measures against this action by extremists.”)
