A number of questions affecting Polish-Jewish relations were discussed here today by representatives of the Board of Deputies of British Jews received by General Sikorski, the Polish premier.
The delegation consisting of Prof. Selig Brodetsky, president of the Board, A. G. Brotman, secretary, and Leonard Stein of the Joint Foreign Committee, expressed appreciation of the decision of the Polish Government-in-exile regarding the status of equality for Jews in a restored Poland.
At the same time the Council of Polish Jews in Britain today adopted a resolution of protest against the Polish broadcasts given over the station of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The resolution demanded the elimination from these broadcasts of comment distasteful to Jews. It accused the Polish broadcaster of eliminating all references to the Jewish question from Premier Sikorski’s report to the Polish National Council on his deliberations in the United States in which the Premier’s views of the status of the Jews in a future Poland were included. Another charge against the Polish radio commentator was that when he broadcasted the policy of “equal right – equal obligations” for Jews and all other national minorities in a restored Poland which was adopted by the Polish Cabinet on June 10th, he added: “We must remind our listeners that no other attitude except the one given above would be appreciated by the American and British democracies”.
