A major security operation is being organized to guard the British liner Queen Elizabeth 2 and her nearly 2000 passengers from possible Arab terrorism during a cruise to Israel next Easter. Most of the passengers, including many Britons, will be Jews celebrating the concurrent 25th anniversary of Israel. Victor Matthews, chairman of Cunard Line Ltd., said: “Extraordinary security precautions will be taken. The terrorist killings at the Munich Olympics were a major alert for us.” The Easter cruise has been chartered by an American travel firm.
(Meanwhile, Arab terrorist organizations are planning acts of terrorism in Italy to force the release of two Palestinians scheduled to go on trial soon in Genoa. It was learned today in Tel Aviv. The two, Ahmed Zayad, 29, and Adnan Mouhammed Hashem, 23, are charged with giving a booby-trapped transistor radio to two British girls about to board a plane for Israel at Rome Airport last Aug. 17. The defendants are members of the Popular Front Organization, a splinter faction headed by Ahmed Jibril. Italian authorities are reported to have been informed of the threat.)
