A planned two-night presentation of the controversial play “The Deputy” has been canceled here because of lack of public interest. A spokesman for Rondeen Associates Ltd., which had booked the Forum for the play’s presentation today and tomorrow, said “there was nothing at the box office.”
Commenting on “the lack of response and complete indifference of the public” which had forced the cancelation, the spokesman said: “The play’s on everybody’s tongue, but nobody did anytying about buying tickets.” He recalled that about 1,300 tickets–about 600 a right–were sold for the 5,000 seats available for each of the performances.
