President Izhak Ben-Zvi’s condition was termed “deteriorating to an alarming extent” at the end of the day in the medical bulletin issued by the physicians attending him at his home. Concern was expressed over his continuing weakened condition, and drugs have been administered to him to ease his sharp pains.

The Chief Rabbinate today issued a call for special prayers for the President to be held throughout the country. Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and other members of the Israel Cabinet were among those who visited his residence during the day inquiring about his condition.

Cables of good wishes continue to arrive at the President’s home from all parts of the world. Most of the foreign diplomatic missions are in constant touch with the President’s residence. The Belgian Ambassador called to convey the personal wishes of King Badouin and the Queen Mother of Belgium.
