Sargent Shriver, United States Peace Corps director, delivered a message today from President Johnson to Prime Minister Levi Eshkol during a meeting which lasted one hour. The Peace Corps director met yesterday with King Hussein of Jordan.
Mr. Shriver, who is carrying personal letters from President Johnson to the heads of state of six Middle East countries he is visiting on a Peace Corps tour, declined to reveal the contents of any of the letters. However, he said that the contents of the various letters were not similar.
He was scheduled to meet with Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, today. She was hospitalized with a sprained ankle and forced to miss the welcoming ceremony for Pope Paul Sunday. She was reported still in the hospital today.
