President Kennedy named Mrs. Charles Hymes, of Minneapolis, president of the National Council of Jewish Women, to a new commission to advance the cause of women’s rights.

The President said the group, which will be headed by Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, would be called the President’s Commission on the Status of Women. It will make studies of “all barriers to the full partnership of women in our democracy.”
