President Nixon conveyed last week is a letter to B’nai B’rith his confidence in the nation’s “understanding and resolve” to maintain its “long-standing commitment” to Israel’s security and “at the same time actively pursue the cause of peace,” Unrest in the Middle East “has a profound effect on all of us,” Nixon said in a letter to B’nai B’rith president David M. Blumberg. The President described American diplomatic efforts toward a settlement a “complex” process, but said that the United States would remain “creatively engaged in all efforts to achieve that final peace.” Blumberg had written to the White House to express B’nai B’rith’s support for the Administration’s airlift of supplies to Israel and similar measures.
