President Otilio Ulate of Costa Rica has discounted the rumors that Jews who acquired Costa Rican citizenship after 1940 will have their citizenship revoked, it was reported here today by Dr. Henry Shoskes, special representative of the HIAS, following his return to this country.
Dr. Shoskes said he conferred with President Ulate and was assured by him that “no person who legally acquired citizenship should have any fears about his status.” The President also said he will try to convince local newspapers to refrain from anti-Jewish propaganda.
