Endre Sos, president of the National Office of Hungarian Israelites, has been awarded the Banner Order of the Hungarian People’s Republic, third class, it was disclosed today.
The award was one of 23 decorations made by the Hungarian Communist regime in a campaign to woo religious institutions in Hungary. The other decorations were given to leaders of the Catholic, Lutheran, Greek Orthodox, Calvinist and Baptist churches
