President Gustavo Diaz Ordaz formally accepted this weekend two valuable paintings which were bequeathed to the Mexican Government by an unidentified Jewish couple in gratitude for the haven they found here when they fled from Austria in the 1930’s.
The two old masters, estimated to be worth $1,000,000, are Fran. Hals’ “Portrait of a Man” and Peter Paul Rubens’ “The Man in the Fur Coat.
