Sympathy with the millions of Jews suffering from Nazi oppression was expressed yesterday by the President of Mexico, General Manuel Avila Camacho, in receiving Dr. Nahum Goldmann. Dr. Goldmann, who is here on a mission for the World Jewish Congress, was also asked by the President to convey to the Jews of the world sympathies and understanding for Jewish aspirations to have Palestine established as their national home.
The President expressed the hope that Jews will eventually be restored to their rights in the countries where their status was changed by the Nazi and Fascist powers.
Dr. Goldmann was also received by the Minister of Interior and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who similarly emphasized Mexico’s sympathy with the Jews in the unprecedented persecutions which they are undergoing now as a result of Hitlerism and Fascism.
