Philosophers might benefit from visiting Israel to study “how the people there manage to preserve calm and avoid feelings of hate, ” a prominent American educator and philosopher declared today. He is Dr. Carroll V. Newsom, president of New York University, whose field of scholarship is in mathematics and philosophy.
Dr. Newsom delivered the principal address at a luncheon of the American Christian Palestine Committee, at the Carnegie Endowment Center, Speaking on the role of education in underdeveloped lands, with specific reference to Israel, which he has visited, Dr. Newsom voiced high praise of the scholarship and scientific equipment at Israeli institutions of higher learning, particularly the Weizmann Institute at Rehovot and Technion in Haifa.
