President Habib Bourguiba of Tunisia, appearing before the National Press Club, said this weekend in commenting on Israel that the best basis for hunan progress was to put aside religious and racial distinctions.
In reply to a question on Israel, the Tunisian President said he thought humanity was progressing to a point where mem will know each other and discover they are all the same” regardless of race or religion. He said such human progress was “the main point.”
The Tunisian President rejected Nasser’s leadership of the Arab world, accusing the United Arab Republic of “machinations” against Tunisia. He said “the Tunisian people have only laughter when we listen to Cairo propaganda. ” He emphasized that he followed a policy he considered in the best interest of his own country, ” Tunisia.
