The Speaker of the Knesset, Reuben Barkatt, has decided to raise with the Knesset presidium the issue of whether disciplinary action should be taken against an Agudat Israel deputy who spat on a Reform prayer book and threw it to the floor during Knesset debate. The incident took place during passage last week of an amendment to the Law of Return. Rabbi Menahem Porush, the Agudat Israel deputy, apologized for the action. Meanwhile, Rabbi Porush has received many congratulatory messages from Agudat Israel supporters here and abroad.
