A press club center for foreign correspondents to be known as “Beit Agron” in memory of the late mayor of Jerusalem, Gersbon Agron, will be established here under the joint sponsorship of the Agron Memorial Committee and the Jerusalem municipality, it was reported here today.
The Agron Memorial Committee expects to raise 500,000 Israeli pounds ($280,000) for the project. Moshe Sharett is honorary chairman of the committee with Meyer Weisgal and Dr. Israel Goldstein serving as co-chairmen. Mr. Agron was the founder of the Jerusalem Post and was editor of that paper until his election as Jerusalem mayor five years ago.
