The establishment of an Institute of Advanced Study at the Weizmann Institute of Science at Rehovoth, which would be conducted along the lines of the Institute at Princeton, was given as one of the main points in a new program for the Weizmann Institute outlined here by Meyer W. Weisgal, chairman of the Weizmann Institute’s executive council, who has just returned to New York after a six-month visit to Israel.

Mr. Weisgal said, in an interview, that the proposed Institute would provide broadened facilities for talented young men and women to obtain post-graduate training in Israel instead of being forced to go abroad for specialized studies. Creation of an applied science group to take over and explore the practical possibilities of research projects which have advanced to the point of direct utilization in Israel’s economy also was seen as a part of the Weizmann’s Institute’s development plan, said Mr. Weisgal.
