The British Labor Party in the Clapham district of London is considering asking their representative in Parliament to retire before the next elections because of her strong anti-Israel, pro-Arab bias. A two-thirds majority of the party’s general management committee in the district has already decided to ask for the resignation of Mrs. Margaret McKay who has been a member of the Labor Party since 1928. They plan to ask the national executive committee of the party to authorize a general meeting to discuss the matter.
Mrs. McKay created a furore last year when she charged, before a group in New York, that “Zionist” members of the Labor Party were forcing Prime Minister Harold Wilson to follow a pro-Israel policy. Mrs. McKay subsequently boasted of being an honorary member of El Fatah, the Palestinian guerrilla organization. She is director of an Arab information and cultural center in London, a propaganda agency financed by Sheikh Zaid of Abu Dahbi, an oil producing principality on the Persian Gulf. Mrs. McKay insists that her views on foreign policy are her own affair but her constituency does not agree.
