Count Folke Bernadotte, the UN’s Palestine truce mediator, whose death is officially listed as a mystery by the United Nations, Sweden and Israel, was “fingered” for assassination by a secret French pro-Nazi organization, it was asserted today by a journalist who says he conducted a three-year world-wide investigation.
According to an exclusive report by Ladislas Farago, a writer formerly associated with U.S. Naval Intelligence and Radio Free Europe; in the current issue of “Real Magazine,” Count Bernadotte’s murder was planned by the French pro-Nazi group, called the D.E.K., in order to kill that organization’s mortal enemy, French Air Force Col. Andre Serot, Senior UN Observer in Jerusalem, who was machine gunned to death as he sat next to Count Bernadotte.
Col. Serot, says Farago in his article, was at one time the chief of the Security and Counter-Espionage Section of the French Air Force. In this capacity he had accumulated secret files on French military and government personnel who swung over to the Germans during the occupation of France. This group of Fascists listed by Serot sought to destroy his secret records and murder him. Their chance came in Jerusalem where they cooperated with a Communist group which was “gunning” for Count Bernadotte.
