The lower chamber of the Dutch Parliament will hold a preliminary inquiry into alleged cooperation by Dutch firms with demands of the Arab League Boycott Office to bar trade with Israel. A “special committee” comprised of members of all parties is expected to begin hearings next week.
The committee was established following publication of a “Black Book” by the “Center for Information and Documentation on Israel” in February, alleging compliance by major Dutch firms with Arab boycott demands. The Parliamentary Committee on Trade Policy which proposed the investigation, has stressed its preliminary nature. Only if sufficient evidence is obtained to bear out the “Black Book” charges will a full Parliamentary investigation be held, committee sources said.
