The proclamation of Jewish statehood has had a beneficial effect on Hebrew cultural life in Argentina; it was reported here today at a convention of the Histadruth Ivrith–National Organization for Hebrew Culture.
Since May 15, when Israel was officially established, there has been a marked increase in the number of adults and youths studying Hebrew, Maximo Levin, president of the Histadruth Ivrith, said in his address. Many Zionist groups have already expanded their cultural programs, while the Hebrew-language magazine. Darom has reported an increase in readership. The need for additional Hebrew textbooks was emphasized at the convention.
