Prof. Goldschmidt on Tour of States to Lecture

Professor Alfons Goldschmidt, noted German scholar exiled by the Hitler regime, is making an extensive lecture tour of the United States which will carry him into practically every state of the Union, it was announced yesterday.

Dr. Goldschmidt, who is 54 years old, has had a distinguished career in German scholarship. After obtaining his Ph.D. at Berlin University, he was active as editor of the economic section of the Berliner Tageblatt and as editor-in-chief of the department of economics of the Ullstein Publishing House. Later Dr. Goldschmidt taught in the journalism school of the University of Leipzig. He also taught political economy at the University of Cordoba in Spain, and in the National University at Mexico City. In 1928, Dr. Goldschmidt, after an extensive trip through Latin America, founded the Berlin Economic Institute for Latin America. However, under the Hitler regime, the Institute was suspended and Dr. Goldschmidt exiled.

During his tour of the United States, Dr. Goldschmidt will lecture on: “Germany Today”, “The Theory and Practice of Economics by the Nazis”, “The Jewish Problem in Germany” and “National Socialism in the Universities.”
