Prof. Yehoshafat Harkabi, a noted Mideast researcher, will become Premier Yitzhak Rabin’s adviser on intelligence on Feb. 1. Harkabi, who served as chief of army intelligence in the 50s, has since embarked on an academic career and wrote several books analyzing the Israeli-Arab conflict. For a short time he served as adviser to Defense Minister Shimon Peres. He replaces Rehavam Zeevi.
