Marek Hlasko, the prominent young Polish non-Jewish writer who gained fame through his novel “The Eighth Day of the Week,” has applied for Israel citizenship, it was reported here today.
Mr. Hiasko arrived in Israel about a year ago from Warsaw to visit friends in a kibbutz. He later took various jobs including one as a construction laborer. He left on Friday for Austria to be married to a film actress who played in the film version of his novel and will return with his wife to Israel in October.
