The closing of all Talmud Torahs and Chedarim (Orthodox Jewish schools) was ordered by the government school inspector in the city of Warsaw because of the scarlet fever epidemic.

Dr. Schor, Rabbi of the Great Synagogue on Tlomackie, in his sermon on Saturday appealed for the immediate establishment of an all-Jewish hygiene society in the Republic of Poland for the purpose of popularizing among the Jewish population the tenets of hygiene and the principles of sanitary living. The Rabbi pointed to the sanitary commandments contained in the Bible.

During last week 148 cases of scarlet fever were registered in Warsaw. Five hundred and twenty-three cases are on record since the beginning of the month.
