Proposed cuts in U.S. government funding could disastrously affect the elderly and other vulnerable populations in the Jewish community, Jewish organizations said Wednesday. The U.S. Senate is considering a 66 percent cut in social services grant money that would hurt programs like Meals on Wheels, adoption and day care, said leaders from the United Jewish Communities and the Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies.
