The presidium of the Vienna Jewish community today forwarded a strong protest to the Central Austrian Banking Association against the extensive and growing dismissals of Jewish bank employees.

The protest points out that hundreds of Jewish families are being reduced to poverty by the daily dismissals of Jewish bank employees, many of whom had been with the banks for long periods.

Several weeks ago eighty Jewish bank employees were dismissed at one time in what had every appearance of being a concerted action. The total has grown since.

Since the organization of Fascist government in Austria Jewish professionals and employees of state and municipal projects, banks and insurance companies have been ousted in ever-growing numbers. The Christian Socialist party, dominant factor in the coalition government, has come out openly for the elimination of Jews from public and professional life, without the brutality of the Nazi regime.
