The reading of the weekly portion of the Bible in the Vilna synagogue was delayed for several hours, a form of expressing protest traditional among East European Jews, last Saturday, despatches received here state.

The obstruction was caused by the relatives of Leib Mindel, a pious Jew who died in Vilna last week at the age of 54. The relatives objected to the fact that his body had been delivered by the Jewish hospital to the clinic of the Medical College for dissection.
