Beginning October 18, all Jewish students in the third fourth and fifth grades of the superior public schools will be released for religious instruction on Thursday of each week. This action was taken by the Board of Education of Superior after a petition had been presented to board members asking for such instruction to be included in the program of the students. All Jewish and nearly all non-Jewish denominations sponsored the petition.

The petition was endorsed by Miss. Lulu L. Pickett, superintendent of Superior public schools.

According to the plan Jewish students will go to the synagogue or temple in which they worship, where a program arranged by the head of each synagogue of one hour’s duration will take place. The plan also stipulates that there shall be one person who shall be responsible for the faithful attendance of the children during the hour of religious instruction.
