The Day, national Yiddish daily published in New York since its founding in 1914 by the late Herman Bernstein, will henceforth appear under the auspices of a public trust foundation, it was announced yesterday by Louis Lipsky, who has been chosen to head the foundation. Associated with Mr. Lipsky as vice-president and managing director is Morris Margulies, former secretary of the Zionist Organization of America. Dr. Samuel Margoshes, associated with The Day for over twenty years, will continue to serve as editor-in-chief.
The announcement adds that any profits which may accrue from the publication will be used for Jewish public purposes. The editorial policy of The Day, which since its inception has been non-partisan in national and local politics as well as on Jewish questions, will retain its independence, it is stated in the announcement.
