American publications claiming that “Washington is run by Jews” fall into the category of those whose loyalty to the United States in the present war is questioned, it was revealed here today at the hearings of the Post Office department to determine whether the magazine “X-Ray” should be permanently deprived of its second-class mailing privileges.
It was reported at the hearings that criteria on which to judge the pro-Nazi leanings of any publication in America have been set up by Harold D. Lasswell, director of war communications research at the Library of Congress. One of the questions which determine a publications loyalty to the country is: “Does the publication say that Washington is run by Communists, plutocrats, Jews or crooks?”
