The first Hebrew Medical Dictionary, entitled Thesaurus Medicus Hebraicus, has been published here. It was compiled by Dr. Alexander Malchi, who spent eight years on the work.
The Latin text is given with an adequate Hebrew translation. It gives numerous terms used in allied branches of science, such as botany, zoology, physics and chemistry. There are about four thousand terms in all. The author has used all available sources, beginning with ancient Hebrew literature and going up to the neologisms of modern Jewish scientists of Palestine. He has himself created many Hebrew terms in medical terminology.
