E. P. Adler, president of the Democrat and Leader and the Times, two evening newspapers here, will be the chairman of a joint campaign in this city and in Moline and Rock Island, Ill., for the United Jewish Appeal on October 22. Preliminary to the drive here, Adler’s newspapers featured the broadcast by the radio station in Des Moines of an electrical transcription of the address delivered in New York City by Refugee High Commissioner James G. McDonald, supplied by national headquarters of the United Jewish Appeal.
The campaign will begin with a “big givers” dinner at Adler’s home, to be followed the next day by a general canvass.
