A plan is afoot to include a statement of racial tolerance in the written creed of the Quakers, it was stated yesterday at the New York Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. Although the basic tenet of the Friends is brotherly love, it was felt that emphasis on racial relations was particularly important at this time.
Several speakers at the meeting stressed the importance of combating hatred and intolerance. John Rich, reporting on American Friends’ service, emphasized the importance of helping victims of racial and political persecution.
