Ormsby Gore, M.P. in the House of Commons asked the Colonial Office for information regarding a proposal for the sale of 9,000 dunams of land in Palestine for the purpose of establishing a Palestine colony for distressed Armenians now in Syria. Gore also asked whether such a sale was under the control of the Palestine government and whether the scheme had the support of the League of Nations commission dealing with refugees and minorities and whether the establishment of such a colony in Palestine was considered consistent with the articles of the Mandate for Palestine.
Drummond Shiels, under-secretary for the Colonies, said he had no information regarding the sale and hence it would be difficult to state to what extent the sale was under the control of the Palestine government.
