Quick passage by the State Senate of two bills regarding multiple dwellings introduced in the Assembly by Assemblyman Martin Inselbuch and passed by that body last Friday, is regarded here as certain. Senator Jacob Mandelbaum is sponsoring the bills in the upper house.
The bills concern amendments to the multiple dwelling law in relation to repairing or demolition of buildings or structures constituting nuisances, and a bill in relation to stair and entrance halls in old law tenements.
The first measure embraces structures dangerous to human life or health, particularly if they are overcrowded and lack proper sanitation. The second bill provides that all transoms and all glazed opening: shall be glazed with wire glass and that the walls and ceilings of entrance halls shall be fire retarded. Other protective provisions are also included.
