A contribution of $250, 000 from the family of Norman S. Rabb has been announced as the first gift from the New England phase of a national campaign to raise $65,100, 000 for Brandeis University.
Mr. Rabb, who is chairman of the Brandeis board of trustees, announced the gift on behalf of his family. The national goal is aimed at providing funds to endow the university’s academic program, complete the building plans, and meet current expenses.
The university’s plans envisage needs of $43,500, 000 for faculty salaries, scholarships, graduate teaching assistantships and retirements. Another $11, 850, 000 is needed for construction, most of which has already been subscribed. An additional $9, 750, 000 is sought for current needs during the campaign.
