Chief Rabbi Schloma Aronson of Tel Aviv, father of Boris Aronson, the well-known American artist who designed and painted the decorations for the play “Awake and Sing” now playing in New York, died here last night at the age of seventy-three.

The entire orthodox Jewish community of Palestine is in deep morning. The rabbi was one of the outstanding figures in Jewish orthodoxy.

Chief Rabbi Aronson came to Palestine from Russia after the Communist Revolution. His son, Boris, who now resides in New York, is a widely known painter and stage decorator. His settings are to be seen in New York this season in three Broadway productions.
