Dr. Robert Gordis, spiritual leader of Temple Beth El, Belle Harbor, L. I., today deplored “the recent intensified denominationalism in American Judaism.” This trend, he said, “leads to a refusal to exchange ideas or sometimes even to talk to one another.”
Addressing a conference of 60 staff members of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, Rabbi Gordis said that many differences among Jews are on external matters which are not significant enough to justify the absence of sharing the contributions that Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Judaism can each make to the total American Jewish community.
