At the annual meeting of the University Religious Conference held here last week, Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin of Temple B’nai Brith was elected president for the coming year. Cecil B. deMille, the noted motion picture producer, was appointed Chairman of the Building Committee.
The University Religious Conference is composed of all creeds cooperating to encourage the spirit of religion among the university students. All its activities are carried on outside of the campus and the building that will house the organization which is soon to be erected will be located off the campus.
Among the members of the Education Committee representing the Jewish organizations appointed at the annual meeting are Rabbi Maxwell H. Dubin and Rabbi Mayer Winkler. Mr. I. Irving Lipshitch, Executive Secretary of the Federation of Jewish Welfare agencies, was appointed member of the Publicity Committee. Ben R. Meyer and Irving Hellman are the Jewish representatives on the business and building committee which consists of some of the most prominent citizens of all denominations in Los Angeles.
