Funeral serices for Rabbi Hyman Gerson Enelow, leader of Temple Emanu-El of New York for twenty-two years, will be held here tomorrow morning at the chapel of Rosehill Cemetery, where he will be interred at noon.
Dr. David Philipson of Cincinnati, dean of American liberal babbis and a former teacher of Rabbi Enelow, will officiate at the services. He will be assisted by a number of Chicago rabbis. In Dr. Enelow’s family, the ceremony will be private.
Dr. Enelow died while on cruise aboard the Canadian Paicic liner Empress of Austria. His body was brought back to New York yesterday on the liner Majestic and sent timmediately to Chicago, arriving today.
On February 1 Rabbi Enelow became Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Emanu-El. He was known as one of the outstanding rabbis and scholars in this coutry. It is understood that a memorial service will be held for Dr. Enelow at Temple Emanu-El.
RABBI WISE OFFICIATES AT FUNERAL SERVICES
Rabbi Stephen S. Wise officiated at funeral services held yesterday for Alfred G. Stein at the latter’s residance, 365 West End avenue. Mr. Stein, who was 67 years old, died of bronchial pneumonia.
Mr. Stein was a partner of Patek Phillipe & Co., watchmakers.
In 1900 he was exposition as the only American juror of awards for horology. He is survived by his window, Mrs. Estelle Austrian Stein, and wo daughters. Kathryn and Josephine.
HARRIS MARAN DEAD
Funeral services for Harris Maran, retired builder and real estate operator, will be held today in the Riverside Memorial Chapel, Amsterdam avenue and 76th street, by Rabbi Edward Lissman of Riverside Synagogus. Burial will take place in New Mount Carmel Cemetery, Brooklyn. Mr. Maran, who resident at 260 Fort Washington avenue, was 76 years old.
UNVEIL MEMORIAL
A memorial tablet was unveiled at Congregation Kehilath Jeshrun, 85th street between Park and Lexington avenues. Rabbi Leo Jung of the Jewish Center was the guest speaker, with Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein presiding.
RABBI ABELS’ FATHER DIES
Elias Abelsky, noted as a scribe, who died in Paterson, N. J., last Firday, was the father of Rabbi Moses J. S. Abels, rabbi of Temple Emenu-El of Boro Park, and of Simon H. Abels of the Jewish Morning Journal. Three daughters also survive him.
