Rabbi Leon Fram of Temple Beth El, this city, who recently returned from a three months’ stay in Russia, in an address before the Detroit Jewish Open Forum, declared that Russia is the only country in Europe that is decent in its attitude to the Jews, and branded the present “impulsive, undiplomatic protest” as “tragic insanity.” Rabbi Fram said in the course of his remarks:

“On Saturday, March 8, the synagogues of America were ardently denouncing the Russian government before the world. On Sunday, March 9, the leaders of American Jewry met in Washington and endorsed enthusiastically a program of cooperation with the same Russian government for the agrarizing and industrializing of Russian Jews. There is a glaring contradiction between these two things. You can not with the right hand denounce a government and with the left hand cooperate with it.”
