Jewish chaplains from Army and Air Force units through-out Europe convened here for an assembly conducted by Rabbi Solomon B. Freehof, of Pittsburgh, who came to Germany on behalf of the Department of Defense and the National Jewish Welfare Board. He is a past president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis.
After the assembly, Rabbi Freeh of will participate in one of the semi-annual Torah convocations held at Berchtesgaden, once Hitler’s summer capital. In the former hunting lodge of Nazi Field Marshal Hermann Goering, he will lecture on religious topics to hundreds of servicemen, officers and civilian employee of the Armed Forces, who come from all parts of Europe to seek Jewish inspiration and stimulation.
