Rabbi Solomon B. Freehoff, spiritual leader of the K.A.M. Congregation here since 1924, yesterday announced his resignation from his post and his acceptance of a call to Temple Rodef Sholom in Pittsburgh. Rabbi Freehoff will occupy his new pulpit just before the high holidays next Septem. In Pittsburgh, Rabbi Freehoff will replace Rabbi S. H. Goldenson, who was recently named rabbi of Temple Emanu-El in New York.
Rabbi Freehoff has been one of Chicago’s leading rabbis and the announcement of his resignation came as a surprise to the Chicago Jewish community. Louis H. Kahn, president of the K.A.M. Congregation, which is the oldest congregation in Chicago, stated that the congregation had no plans for a successor to Rabbi Freehoff.
