Rabbi L. Elliot Grafman was officially installed as the rabbi of Tremont Temple, New York City, on Friday evening, October 10. Rabbis Nathan Krass of Temple Emanu-El, and Jonah B. Wise of the Central Synagogue, New York City, participated in the installation exercises. Brief addresses were also made by Adolph Steiner, president, and Seymour Mork, chairman of the Board of Trustees, of Tremont Temple.
Rabbi Grafman is a graduate of the Hebrew Union College and of the University of Cincinnati. He has been prominently identified with religious and social welfare work, and at one time edited the Southern Advocate, an English-Jewish publication. Rabbi Grafman came to Tremont Temple after six years of ministry to the Reform Temple in Tampa, Florida. Tremont Temple is the only Reform Temple in the Bronx section of New York City.
