Edmund I. Kaufmann, president of the Zionist Organization of America, today announced the appointment of Dr. James G. Heller of Cincinnati, as chairman of the program committee for the 44th annual convention of the ZOA, which will be held September 6 to 9 in Cincinnati.
Rabbi Heller has recently been elected president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. He has played a vital role at former Zionist conventions and other national parleys devoted to the upbuilding of the Jewish homeland in Palestine. He is a member of the national executive of the Zionist organization of America.
Rabbi Heller said; “The forthcoming convention of the ZOA in Cincinnati for which my community is to act as host, ought to devote itself to the pressing problems of Jewish life and of Zionist policy in the world. I trust that this time we shall not spend the sessions on wrangling or on internal political troubles. We must concentrate on the effort to get away from factionalism in Zionist life and attempt to bring together all the Zionist funds for cooperative work under the Zionist organization and eliminate hurtful duplication. The convention must also devote itself to discussion concerning the present serious situation of Palestine, and attempt to forecast what must he done toward a new charter for Eretz Yisreal after the war.”
